Hiya, my name is Teresa & I have been a psychotherapeutic counsellor for over 6 years. Prior to counselling I have a 23 year history in palliative & cancer nursing. I am passionate about people & providing the appropriate healing space for individuals to be their authentic self & harness their own innate ability for growth.
We can all struggle with our thoughts & feelings throughout life. The individual nature of people creates diversity in how we cope with life’s changes and the many variables within that; such as our upbringing, family dynamics, personality & personal drives. It would be my absolute pleasure to help you to work through these changes and processes to aid growth & coping skills. I qualified in counselling in 2016 with a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling with chrysalis. I keep updated wi try h regular CPD & monthly supervision with 2 supervises - one for my adult work & 1 for my teens. I trained in online therapy with OCST following the covid outbreak. This training has provided me with the ability & confidence to widen my reach to clients & work in a different but very effective way - location is no object. I work in an integrative way, tailoring interventions to the clients individual needs. We may utilise some CBT methods, worksheets, creative therapy or it may be talking and listening that is required to help make sense of what is happening for the client. My approach in counselling is largely person centred meaning that the clients process is at the forefront of therapy at all times. I believe that our brain & body are inextricably linked and if we can help to heal our psychological health then the physical can be eased also. Information is such a powerful tool so I use psycho education alongside all therapy interventions tailored to the clients needs.
