Hi, I’m Sue,
I am curious about you, about your story, your experiences and the struggles that bring you here today. I am a Trauma and PTSD Counsellor and breath-work coach .
We are all unique and have a story to tell. I’d like the opportunity to share space with you and come to understand your story and the impact it has had on you.
I offer trauma informed counselling that works with both the mind and body, that can support you with trauma and PTSD, intrusive self-critical thoughts and anxiety, sadness, mood swings, flashbacks, nightmares, relationship challenges and the relationship you have with yourself. What does it mean to be you?
As a counsellor, I appreciate the power of transformation from coming to know ourselves and how Trauma, shame and PTSD can impact every aspect of your life, how it can affect your behaviour, your relationships, your ability to cope and for this reason I have chosen to develop a toolkit of skills that can help you live your life differently.
Sometimes we don’t have words to express the pain we feel because events have been so traumatic that we have closed off from them. I recognise the gentle path needed to support you with your traumatic experiencing and provide a warm space to develop connection and trust so that you may feel safe and together we can be curious about what it means to be you at your pace.
I work in a holistic way, which means working with your emotional, psychological and physiological needs to help explore and process difficult experiencing and emotional turmoil. I offer a space that works for you, and work with a variety of modalities tailored to suit, which might include talking therapy, the body and movement, breath-work, creativity, imagery and visualisation.
Working creatively, using imagery and a space to talk can offer support to help you connect with the ‘you’ hidden underneath the layers of life so that you may find joy, fun, adventure and peace in the present. Everyone has a story to tell, not everyone knows how to tell it, let me help you tell your story.
I am very much person centred and put you at the heart of what we do together, creating a space to explore your life experiences and by being curious, identify what might be a helpful way of working for you.
Sometimes it can be difficult to identify your feelings and emotions, being curious about the physical sensations and connecting with the felt sense in your body, can provide clues as to what the feeling is and what is creating it.
Being creative can help remove barriers and create a flow, creativity can be about communicating the words we don’t know how to express or understand; giving them a voice and witnessing them.
I work with adults and have transitioned from working as a nursery nurse into education and working with young people prior to training as a counsellor.
