Hello, my name is Margaret, I am a qualified, experienced counsellor of adults.

I have experience working with a wide variety of people who have many and varied reasons for seeking help. Prior to qualifying as a Therapeutic Counsellor I worked in the helping professions in the areas of mental health and learning disability for fifteen years. Since qualifying, four years ago, my main focus and experience has been in trauma recovery along with a range of varied issues. I have a passion for helping people grow to where they want to be.

What I offer
I offer an invitation to talk through your emotions, relationships, patterns of behaviour and beliefs and their origins. By reflecting on them, with you, you may discover new ways of experiencing that can contribute positively to the life you wish for yourself. My aim is to facilitate the process by listening to what you are saying to try to truly understand and feed back to you so that you can see the sometimes conflicting parts within from a different perspective, and get to know the effect they have on your life. By talking through and understanding yourself and your patterns and by challenging negative self-perception you can begin to build self-esteem, self-awareness and a more positive relationship with yourself. In my trauma work, if appropriate and relevant, I will introduce you to methods of reuniting with the parts you had to shut off in order to survive and reconnect your mind with your body.

How I work
I work from the perspective that you are the only one who truly knows you. I am guided by you and your preferences for the way we work together, whether you feel more suited to having space to explore yourself, guided exploration of your past and inner self or more interactive strategies to work with. Together, we can work towards the person you want to be through understanding, increasing self-awareness, building self-esteem, finding more helpful patterns and developing your relationship with yourself.

I work with adults of any age who:-

are living with the effects of childhood trauma
have issues relating to being at boarding school
are having difficulties in relationship
who are in addiction
who are having life issues
