I have worked as a humanistic-integrative counsellor since 2000, and have held BACP accreditation since 2003. I gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Supervision in 2014. I completed training as both an online therapist and supervisor in early 2020.
I have worked mainly in third-sector organisations and in GP surgeries, offering mostly short-term therapy. I have six years experience in IAPT, and completed trainings in the modalities of Counselling for Depression and IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy). I worked as a supervisor in IAPT and supported a number of supervisees with their application for BACP Accreditation. I am now semi-retired, but continue to practise as a volunteer counsellor at Saffron Sheffield, working for between 20 and 40 sessions with women who have experienced some form of trauma. I am appreciating the new challenge of trauma specialisation and longer-term work. I offer supervision in-person, by webcam or by phone.
General counselling; trauma
My core supervision training was in the Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins and Shohet)
I believe effective supervision, like effective therapy, depends on establishing a warm, mutually respectful and honest relationship. This creates a safe space which offers:
• the opportunity to explore all aspects of your work with clients, including our inner thoughts and feelings about the work
• discussion of your hopes and needs for professional development
• a chance for you to feel heard, supported, restored and energised
