I am an Accredited Integrative adult and child counsellor, clinical supervisor and positive psychology coach. I also have a team of integrative practitioners, meaning we are able to draw on several approaches to best suit your needs. We are based in Hornchurch and we offer face to face telephone and online counselling. We also offer coaching and ADHD coaching.

If you are you constantly tense, worried or on edge, unable to concentrate, or experiencing negative thought patterns, this can be overwhelming. Maybe you have a Low self-esteem, no confidence, no motivation or anxiety. We can help. Are you experiencing narcissistic abuse and gaslighting! We can support you with your mental health.

The integrative approach means we have trained and qualified to use the following approaches, Psychodynamic, CBT and Humanistic. I am also a positive psychology coach, which means I have a diverse range of skills to help you move forward. There are many types of counselling and I know it can be confusing to know what type of counselling may be best for you. I decided to become an Integrative counsellor as it is a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific therapies. Each approach offers explanation and insight into human behaviour.

As an Integrative therapist I take the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. Each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances. Integrative counselling maintains the idea that there are many ways in which human psychology can be explored and understood – no one theory holds the answer. Essentially this means that as an integrative counsellor I am able to tailor therapy to clients and not the client to the therapy. The positive psychology aspect of my work as a counsellor and coach allows transformational change known as post traumatic growth, meaning we can gain resilience and use that to help us grow and learn from difficult, traumatic and painful experiences.

I was inspired to become a counsellor after my own experience of personal therapy, which helped me through some difficult issues I encountered in my life. Counselling allowed me to understand myself, and taught me that I had the ability to change. I had the answers but lost the ability to listen to myself and trust my own decisions. Counselling helped me to rediscover my full potential. This feeling was so empowering and felt like nothing I had experienced before. From that moment I knew that I wanted to help others to experience that feeling. I also discovered and realised that these experiences helped me to grow. This led me onto a Masters (Msc) programme in positive psychology and coaching psychology. This has enabled me to build on my therapeutic skills and offer an enhanced experience to my clients.

I know that life can be challenging and painful at times and making the decision to seek help can be quite daunting. The stigma associated to mental health and counselling can make it even harder, you may feel judged by others about how you should, think, feel and behave. You just want to fit in and be accepted, so sometimes it’s easier to just carry on and pretend everything is ok. This can be exhausting and eventually stopped working for me. It does not have to be this way. If you decide that you deserve this support to free your mind from the pressures that life can bring, I can help you understand yourself and provide you with the tools to continue to help yourself and unlock your true potential.

My practice works with adults and children and I have a family practitioner an couples therapist.

I can help with a range of mental health needs, from bereavement, trauma, depression, anxiety and much more. I believe for any therapy to be successful, the first thing you need is the therapeutic relationship. I want you to feel safe and at ease with me, so that you can share your experiences without fear or judgment. The space that I offer, is yours for 50 minutes, and I will be led by you and what you need. I will always be honest and transparent with you. I want to understand your world, and how you view your world. I will do this offering empathy and compassion.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, which will be led by you.

The daily challenges of life can become overwhelming and whilst family and friends can be a great source of comfort and support, speaking to those personally involved can be difficult.

I offer a space for you to share those concerns, and not being personally involved means I can listen, be objective and you can feel safe and reassured that what you share will go no further.

I know from personal experience it can be difficult to make that initial contact with a counsellor, and take that first step to seeking help. I want you to feel at ease before you meet me, so I offer a free 15-minute telephone conversation; this will give you the opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable to work with me or if you prefer you can email me.

Online Supervisor Profile

My name is Joanne and I am an Accredited Integrative Adult and child counsellor which means I am able to draw on several counselling approaches, Psychodynamic, CBT and Humanistic and creative approaches. I am also a qualified Positive Psychology Coach. This means I am able to tailor my approach as a supervisor to best suit your needs and training dependant on your theoretical orientation.

As a qualified supervisor I believe I offer something unique due to my integrated skill set as an adult and child counsellor and positive psychology coach. This integrated approach supports my role as a supervisor, counsellor and coach, which will assist you in strengthening your client work to empower you and your clients.

I work with qualified counsellors and supervisors and counsellors in training. I can also offer supervision to qualified coaches or coaches in training. We all know the importance of the therapeutic relationship in therapy and coaching and this is a strong focus for me in my work. The supervisor and supervisee relationship is just as crucial, as supervision often mirrors the process that is happening with your clients. So for this reason I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to see if you feel we could work together, as I believe supervision should be a collaborative process. I want you to feel comfortable with me and feel that you will grow and be open to new ways of working to support your practice. I love seeing the process develop and watch the supervisee feeling empowered and confident in their practice. Self-awareness is the key to positive change, growth and building resilience.

Working with adults, children schools and extensive knowledge of safeguarding and schools policies. I also work with adults and children and have experience of working as a school counsellor. I have also managed counselling projects in schools for a large organisation and I also work with a local authority within schools, specifically offering counselling to children in the social care system. I also supervise counsellors for various schools that have their own counselling service. I am fully conversant with school protocol and procedures and working with school SENCOs. I am also very experienced with making onward referral processes to other mental health services such as the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and very well informed in in relation to safeguarding policies and onward referral procedures to multi agency safeguarding hubs for adults or children. I also work with other organisations such as Victim support and other specialised services that need to refer clients for counselling.

In my supervisory practice I use the Seven-Eyed supervision model, this is a process-oriented approach which integrates the relational and systemic aspects of supervision. This model means I can provide supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches, teachers and social workers. The model focuses on the relationships between client, practitioner and supervisor, and takes into consideration the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system.

The IDM and Seven eyed models inform my practice as a supervisor to support my supervisees at a level they are competent in. The use of the eyes mean I am able to work collaboratively with my supervisees and identify areas for further exploration, promoting self-awareness, highlighting growth. The supervision process that I offer encompasses skills and competencies to support the development of my supervisees. These models have informed my approach, enabling me to make observable changes for both Parties. Providing insight and notable competencies to enhance your practice. Empowering the supervisee to move from novice to expert.

Using these models and approaches have enabled me as a supervisor to monitor the supervisees efficacy and identify areas that could be developed further and the eyes help me to identify specific differing areas of development.
