Hello! My name is Debbie ( She/Her) and I am a fully insured Person-centered counsellor and supervisor.
My Journey of learning began at the University of Aberdeen in 2016, where I studied COSCA Counselling skills level 1-4, which then led me to gain my Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centered Counselling. On completing my practice placement and qualifying, I was privileged to be offered a temporary three-month full-time position through Aberdeen Foyer in 2020-which involved supporting clients through telephone counselling during the beginning of the pandemic. I continued as a volunteer counsellor until 2022. In 2021 I set up my own private practice offering telephone and online therapy. I am from farming background, and I work with a charity RSABI as a counsellor supporting people from Scottish agriculture. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the
Care Sector for 28 years as I have always been driven towards helping people. Over the years, I worked closely with both children and adults with a learning difference, disability and additional needs and mental health- firstly as a support worker and then progressing into managerial positions.
I fully understand the demands and pressures when we embark on course of study and the difficulties which we may face having to juggle our work/life balance with other commitments.
As a supervisor my aim is to work alongside my supervisees using the Hawkins and Shohet's Seven-eyed model of supervision, which will enable my supervisees to further develop their own individual skills and personal development.
Furthermore, I am committed to being fully integrated in the working relationship with my supervisees offering guidance, support, and advice and I will always practice an open, honest non-judgmental approach.
My fee £40.00 (During training) £65.00 (Qualified) I accept payments through bacs. I am always open to discuss the fee that I charge, as I fully understand how the impact of the cost of living has effected us all.
