I am an online BACP Accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and have been practising as an integrative counsellor since 2007. I am also a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and COSRT registered Psychosexual Therapist and supervise other therapists.
I provide both short and long term personal counselling for individuals of all ages. I offer a confidential and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and work through the difficult issues in your life. I will work with you to gain a better understanding of yourself, your situation and your relationships with those around you and help you to find your own answers to problems and make choices about your life.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on a range of counselling models (including person humanistic and CBT) to find a way of working which suits your needs. I work with individuals and relationships from a diverse range of backgrounds (including diverse ethnicities and gender and sexual minorities) dealing with a broad range of issues. I have particular expertise in working with anxiety, depression, psychosexual and alcohol issues.
Issues which you may address though counselling include
- Work related issues
- Bereavement and loss
- Stress and anxiety
- Phobias
- Obsessive or compulsive behaviour
- Low self-esteem
- Sex and sexuality
- Cultural issues
- Family issues
- Alcohol/drug problems
- Life transitions
- Relationships
Apart from my private practice, I work part-time for a university as a teaching fellow and for a counselling charity. I have also worked as a senior therapist for an NHS service with clients experiencing anxiety and depression and organisations supporting people with alcohol problems, young people, victims of crime and older people.
I can offer you a confidential and supportive space to share your thoughts and feelings and explore the areas of your life you would like to change.
Through therapy, you can gain a better understanding of yourself, your situation and your relationships with those around you and find your own answers to difficulties and make choices about your life. To help you explore your thoughts and feelings, I will listen, respond and sometimes challenge you.
My approach is integrative, which means I use a variety of counselling models to find a way of working which suits your needs. For example, if you would like to work in a creative way beyond simply talking I can facilitate this. You can bring drawings, dreams, poetry and music to sessions if this is helpful to you.
I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is particularly helpful for addressing patterns of thinking and behaving in the present and Integrative Psychosexual Therapy which draws on my specialist knowledge around sex and relationships. I can integrate these approaches with counselling or offer them in a purer format depending on your needs.
I work with individual adults as well as couples and other relationships.
Psychosexual issues, depression, anxiety disorders, trauma.
