I am a qualified therapist, an Accredited Member of BACP, and a Senior Accredited Registrant of NCPS trained in Psychodynamic Counselling and CBT. My style is collaborative, curious and non-judgmental. I offer a place that is confidential, warm and open. I practice across a wide range of issues and have experience with people with anxieties such as social anxiety or deep fears, psychological or sexual abuse, work and career issues, depression, sense of stuckness, perfectionism, identity and relationships issues, low self -esteem, bereavement and young adult issues.
In my practice I am sex positive and I hold an affirmative approach to LGBTQIA+, agender and genderfluid. I am also neurodivergent-affirmative.
I am collaborative and dialogic. I work with you to gather a better sense of your problems and gain your own solutions. I believe that people are different and they may need different help at different times in their lives.
We will decide the length of therapy, a set amount of sessions or not and which course of therapy will be best suited for your needs.
I work online with UK residents only.
During the first 2 or 3 sessions we will have the opportunity to talk about your expectations , hopes and see whether working with together will help you and how (CBT or Psychodynamic).
At the end of those we will have decided together whether we will be working together, what suits better your needs, for how long and which will be the goals of therapy or if other services/professionals may better help you, and in this case, we will discuss the various options available to you and I will support you in this.
My core training is Psychodynamic Counselling and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I am also informed by Existential Therapy.
Psychodynamic holds an explorative attitude towards your past and how you formed important relationships when growing up, this will help you to gain more awareness how you feel and behave in the present. The goal is to gain a better knowledge of yourself which will foster changes in your life.
CBT holds a more active attitude focussed on the present. You will work to proactively change the way you think and behave and feel, this is achieved with tasks and collaborative exercises.
Existential Therapy refers to topics addressing the difficulties of being human and the awareness of death, boredom and stuckness. The focus is on the personal meaning you have about things in life rather than on the imposition of a theoretical explanation by me, the therapist. The aim is to help you understand more about yourself and foster the knowledge that you can choose how to be in the world by changing or tolerating the way things are.
