Hello! My name is Lindsay and I offer a down-to-earth counselling relationship. I respect the courage it takes to face difficult issues and welcome any emails that you have with questions about counselling.

Professional AccreditationI am accredited with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and I am a fully qualified counsellor. I have practised as a counsellor for over a decade. I am also a member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and I am a qualified psychosexual and relationship therapist. I am a registered member (level 2) of the Association for Therapy and Counselling Online. I attend monthly clinical supervision of my work. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework. This means I always have your well-being, safety, and confidentiality at the heart of my work, and practice with respect and sincerity: see here http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/ More About MeBefore qualifying as a counsellor, I worked mainly as a support worker and also taught English overseas, which was great for learning about different cultures. My practice strives to be inclusive of all communities and people, appreciating and respecting difference, including; abilities, age, class, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, neuro-diversity, race, religion, and sexual orientation. I offer limited low-cost spaces for clients, this is dependent on a client's circumstances and ability to pay. Alongside my private practice, I have worked for over ten years providing counselling support to survivors of sexual violence and other trauma. I also work as a self-employed trainer and have provided trauma training based on the NHS National Trauma Framework to various customers, including Edinburgh University staff and Scottish Government staff.

I am a psychodynamic counsellor, this means when we have sessions I will ask about your history to begin with. This type of counselling is being interested in patterns, behaviours and problems that relate to the past in some way, for example unresolved traumas or attachment patterns that have developed in the past but are problems for the present. I also use somatic experiencing, which is a technique aimed at processing trauma in the body, and can be helpful for trauma, stress and anxiety.
