Hello, I'm Demi.

Sometimes it might feel like we are not being heard, we all need a little reassurance, to be held, for people to understand where we are at. Our journey through life can feel somewhat uneven and a little bumpy. It can feel as if there's no one to turn to, no one to simply hear you tell your story just as it is, fear they won't see things as you do, try to offer solutions so that you feel better and don't have to experience what you are right now.

You've navigated a lot of stuff to get here right now.

You don't have to do this alone, I'm here to help you

The decision to seek counselling can feel scary and unsettling, particularly when you feel you should be able to cope with what's bothering you on your own. I have been in a similar position having had my own therapy.

I am warm, open, and honest and help to put you at ease. I have empathy and experience of how struggles can affect our lives

I work integratively, this means I blend different elements of specific approaches so that our work together can be tailored to meet your needs. These are often individual and unique to you and your situation. Following your direction and helping you to feel comfortable I work short term and on an open-ended basis but overall it is you who is in charge.

My approach places you at the centre of our work together known as person-centred. I want to understand experiences from your point of view. It emphasises our ability to make choices and develop to our maximum potential by looking at people as a whole. This will support you in developing a stronger, healthy sense of self.

I integrate CBT to develop insight into unhelpful thinking habits which can affect the way we think, feel and behave. If any of these are changed, the others will be altered too. When unhelpful habits and patterns are broken, we can fulfil goals as we take control of our lives

The Psychodynamic approach provides understanding about how past experiences and relationships influence our present thoughts, choices, feelings and behaviours. It means we can explore the way the mind influences behaviour. This develops our awareness, reducing levels of distress which enables us to disentangle ourselves from unhelpful aspects of our past.

I can offer you space away from those worries, to be you just as you are, to lessen yourself from those difficult and sometimes painful experiences to take off that mask that shows everyone you have it all together. An opportunity to step back to be more able to understand how things are, to feel you have a clearer view and feel more in control. I am committed to supporting you develop the tools you need to move forward feel hopeful about what your journey could look like.

We all need support sometimes, and now might be that time for you

I create a safe environment, tailoring our work together to suit you and your needs. If you are feeling overwhelming by your thoughts and feelings mixed up, want to know yourself better, to be curious about who you are and how your experience of the world has shaped you, the lens you see through, allowing you to feel the expert in your life again I understand and appreciate the importance of finding the right match for you. I offer a no obligation, 20 minute telephone call to chat about how we could work together and what therapy with me may look like. It gives both of us a chance to get to know each other better. A quick chat over the phone means you can see whether you feel a natural 'click'.
